"Non Traditional" Love Route
Although the social construct has directed love traditionally and less traditionally, here is another indication that love comes in different ways, in the form, shapes and energies. And always, no matter what, finds the right path. The path of love.
How we meet
We took the non traditional route. We had been good friends for 5 years. After I went through a nasty break up, Ruben was always there to watch over me and cheer me up. He took care of me when I was sick. He picked me up from girls night outs. He stayed over on my couch so I wasn’t alone. All our friends could see it, but we denied it for awhile. Until New Years of 2019. We’ve been inseparable since. We danced and drank and eventually kissed. I fell in love that night, but didn’t tell him for five more months. We were in Vegas and actually both said it at the same time. Later that year we built a home together. We welcomed a beautiful baby boy into the world this year. I fell in love again watching him be the best daddy to our son. I’ve never known a love more patient or kind than his.
The proposal story
The night after my birthday, he took me for a celebration since he works out of town most of the week. We went for a walk on the pedestrian bridge. I had just lost my grandmother a few weeks prior - and there was a giant rainbow. She loved rainbows. Ruben got on one knee and asked me to be his for the rest of our lives. I can’t help falling in love with him all over again every day. We can do anything in the world so long as we stick together.
Congratulations to Stefanie and Ruben. We wish them a lifetime of happiness!
